enrolling your farm business and completing an application for available cost-share funding programs;

registering for an OSCIA-delivered workshop (including the Environmental Farm Plan); and/or

accessing your local SCIA membership account *NEW*.

An account on osciaportal.org offers you secure access to OSCIA-delivered cost-share programs, educational opportunities, and the OSCIA membership platform. Information is only collected for these purposes.

Terms and Conditions of Use for osciaportal.org

By accessing or using any of the features of the osciaportal.org system (the “system”), including creating a user account, enrolling a farm business, applying to a cost-share program and/or registering for an educational opportunity, you agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions of Use, you will not be able to create a user account.

Information collected to create and manage your user account will be used to enable you on behalf of business(es) you are authorized to represent, to securely connect to OSCIA-delivered programs, and for our site administrators to properly administer your user account. All material on the osciaportal.org system is protected by Crown copyright (unless otherwise indicated), which is held by the King’s Printer for Ontario. Permission to use and reproduce content owned by the King’s Printer for Ontario is set out at https://www.ontario.ca/page/copyright-information . Note that permission to reproduce material owned by the King’s Printer for Ontario does not extend to any content on this system that is identified as the subject of copyright of a third party. Authorization to reproduce such third-party content must be obtained from the copyright holder of that material.

Acceptable Use

In agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you agree not to:

Falsely claim to represent a person, organization, or entity;
Submit information over which you do not have the necessary rights to grant the right to use, reproduce, modify, publish, or transmit the content;
Interfere with or disrupt the osciaportal.org system, network or servers connected to the system or violate the regulations, policies or procedures of such networks or servers;
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the logins and passwords of others, or to the computer systems and networks connected to the osciaportal.org system; or
Post, upload or otherwise transmit:
1. unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, ‘junk mail’, ‘spam’, ‘chain letters’, ‘pyramid schemes’, or any other form of solicitation, whether it be commercial or otherwise;
2. information that violates or infringes on the rights of any other party, including, without limitation, rights of privacy and intellectual property rights;
3. information that is abusive, hateful, harassing, defamatory, slanderous, knowingly false or otherwise objectionable or in violation of any law, rule or regulation;
4. anything that contains any software or computer files that contain a virus, worm or other disruptive, harmful or deleterious component.

You understand and accept that you are, at all times, responsible for your user account and password. Please keep these secure. If you suspect that others have obtained them, you are responsible for either changing your password or contacting us to revoke access privileges. If you choose the latter, you will have to create a new user account to continue to access the osciaportal.org system.

Termination

If you violate or breach any of the Terms and Conditions of Use, your permission to use the osciaportal.org system may be revoked, in addition to other remedies available at law. You understand and accept that the osciaportal.org system or your access to the osciaportal.org system may be terminated or suspended at any time without notice.

Limitation of Liability

Your use of the osciaportal.org system and its content is at your own risk. The system is not warranted to be uninterrupted or error free, to be entirely free of viruses or other harmful code, or that defects will be corrected. Content on the system is not warranted as to correctness, accuracy or timeliness.

The operators of the system and their employers, agents and independent contractors shall not be responsible or liable for any damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or in any way arising out of or in connection with the osciaportal.org system, including its content.

No Guarantee of Eligibility for OSCIA-Delivered Programs

You understand and accept that use of the osciaportal.org system does not guarantee eligibility for participation in OSCIA-delivered programs, and that information you provide through the osciaportal.org system will be reviewed for accuracy, validity and eligibility. Please refer to details regarding eligibility that are associated with the offering(s) to which you are applying.

Change to Terms and Conditions

The osciaportal.org system reserves the right to supplement, remove or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time and from time to time. Please check regularly for any changes to these Terms and Conditions. If you continue to use the osciaportal.org system following any change to these Terms and Conditions, you will be deemed to have accepted the change.

General

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and are deemed to be entered into by the user in the Province of Ontario.

Information shared by OSCIA with the Province or Canada may be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) or the Access to Information Act (ATIA);
Information shared with the Province or Canada may be disclosed by an order of a court or tribunal, pursuant to a legal proceeding or otherwise by law;
OSCIA will:
1. Keep all Confidential Information secure,
2. Provide information to the Province or Canada when directed to do so by the Province or Canada,
3. Only collect Personal Information that the Province or Canada determines, in its sole discretion, that it is permitted to collect and that is necessary to collect to deliver a program,
4. Not directly or indirectly use, collect, disclose, or destroy any Personal Information for any purposes that are not authorized by the Province or Canada,
5. Ensure the security and integrity of Personal Information and keep it in a physically secure and separate location safe from loss, alteration, destruction, or intermingling with other records and databases and to implement, use, and maintain the most appropriate products, tools, measures, and procedures to do so;
6. Restrict access to Personal Information to those of its directors, officers, employees, agents, partners, affiliates, volunteers, or subcontractors who have a need to know it for the purpose of delivering a program and who have been specifically authorized by the Province or Canada to have such access for the purpose of delivering a program, and
7. Implement other specific security measures that in the reasonable opinion of the Province or Canada would improve the adequacy and effectiveness of the Recipient's measures to ensure the security and integrity of Personal Information and information generally.
OSCIA may collect the Social Insurance Number (SIN) of a farm business where that recipient is a sole proprietor or an unincorporated entity or collect the business number of an incorporated business to meet its obligations under the Income Tax Act (Canada), and for the purpose of auditing and collection of over-payments.
The information provided by the program participant may be disclosed by the Province or Canada or OSCIA (the program administrator) on behalf of the Province or Canada to verify compliance with other provincial and federal funding initiatives administered by the Province or Canada or another program administer on behalf of the Province or Canada in order to confirm the information provided, to verify eligibility and to ensure there is no duplication of funding.
If requested by the Province or Canada, OSCIA (the program administrator) will release information that may be published about the project/activities funded including the amount of funding the participant has been approved to receive and/or has received under the program, the nature of the project/activities funded, along with the participant’s name.
OSCIA may use cookies to improve our website’s functionality and, in some cases, to provide visitors with a customized online experience.
OSCIA will retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
